JANAKPUR, Dec 16: Janakpur temple area remained tense on Wednesday afternoon as agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) staged protests against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s visit.The protestors even pelted stones while the president emerged out after offering prayers in temple.Police fired three rounds of tear gas canisters after the protestors hurled petrol bombs at them.Police have cordoned off the area.There had been stern protests in Janakpur after the president’s visit was scheduled.The protestors even burnt the president’s effigies.
